Here’s what the local Great Neck teams were been up to for the week of April 15-21:

Great Neck North

Baseball
: The boys had a rough week, as they were shutout in both games 12-0 and 15-0. In the first game on April 15, Wantagh’s Mike Davanzo tossed six shutout innings while fanning 10. The offense was led by Joey Smith who went 3-for-3 with three RBI.On April 16 they were defeated by Garden City. The star of the game was Corey Fallon who smacked a school-record three home runs, while knocking in seven RBI. David Butler tossed five shutout inning to record the win.

Softball
: On April 16, they posted an impressive 16-0 shutout over Roosevelt. The winning pitcher, Jessica Weiss, threw five innings and striking out a remarkable 13 batters.  Joyce Gallo and Lauren Pomerantz both went 3-for-4  with three RBI.The day next, they were defeated 13-2 by Lynbrook. Kristy Harvey smacked a home run and drove in four runs, and Bridget Greene had two hits and four RBI as well.On April 19, they won a slugfest over Lawrence by the score of 15-14. Sage Rosenthal, Joyce Gallo and Lauren Pomerantz all hit home runs, with Gallo’s three-run knock proving to be the difference.

Boys Lacrosse
: The boys won all three games this week. On April 17, they defeated Malverne/ East Rockaway 6-2. Evan Dorman led the way with three goals, with Desmond Scanlon adding a goal and two assists. On April 19 they were victorious over Wheatley 13-5. Once again, Dorman had a terrific game as he scored five goals. Scanlon added three goals and Robert Campbell contributed two.The next day they routed Long Island Lutheran 12-3. Dorman equaled his previous game’s total with five goals. Scanlon totaled three goals and three assists in the game.

Girls Lacrosse
: The girls had a solid week as they won two of their three games. On April 15, they lost 15-5 to Mepham. Nicole Stackpole was the difference maker as she scored eight goals and four assists. Katherine Cortez had eight saves for GNN.On April 18 they defeated Valley Stream District 15-10. Stephanie Epstein led the offense with four goals, as Emily Nitzberg and Gabrielle Berger both amassed two.On April 20 they defeated their rivals Great Neck South 18-14 in a high-scoring affair. The offense was a three-headed monster, with  Taylor Nelon, Gabrielle Berger and Sabrina Damaghi all scoring four goals and notching an assist.

Great Neck South:

Baseball
They swept a three-game set over Roosevelt to bring their undefeated mark to 9-0. On April 15, they won 8-5. The game was in extra innings in the ninth inning, the go-ahead run scoring on a balk which scored Stephen Farkas. Thomas Kelly was the winning pitcher. The next day they won 16-2. Mitchell Cohen dominated, as he tossed a complete game allowing only one run while striking out nine. Brett Alper was 3-for-3 with three RBI. They completed the sweep on April 18 with a 5-0 shutout. Stephen Farkas, Justin Rose and Rasaul Raham all recorded multiple hits. The winning pitcher was Hodes who recorded his third win of the season.

Softball
: On April 16 they recorded a blowout win over Hempstead by the score of 18-4. Chrissie Vissichelli was 2-for-3 with a home run and was also the winning pitcher with five innings of work.The next day they were victorious 9-6 over Valley Stream Central. The go-ahead run was scored by Carly Hirshon who scored on an RBI double by Alex Kadish. Vissichelli was the winning pitcher once again.They were defeated on April  19 by Port Washington 12-3. Carrie Rybecky went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI to lead the offense.

Boys Lacrosse
: They lost both games this week with the first one coming on April 17 to Calhoun by the score of 13-4. Dan Doreste scored two of the four goals for GNS. Marc Giovannello had nine saves in goal.On April 20 they were just barely edged, 16-15, by Elmont. Nick St. Louis scored the go-ahead goal in the final quarter. He scored three on the day and added four assists. Vincent Patrey had seven goals for GNS.

Girls Lacrosse
: On April 17 they beat West Hempstead 13-6. Steph Ross led the way with seven goals. Jessica Kwong added three of her own.On April 18 they also defeated Malverne/East Rockaway 16-12. Jill Weihs scored five goals and added an assist. Ross and Kwong also had two goals each. They suffered a disappointing 18-14 loss to Great Neck South on April 20. Despite the loss, Sam Rickey scored four goals in the loss. Weihs scored three goals.
