Jon Kaiman Named Board President at Gold Coast Arts Center

Former North Hempstead Town Supervisor assumes the presidency of the board of directors at the Great Neck-based Gold Coast Arts Center.

Former North Hempstead Town Supervisor Jon Kaiman has been named the president of the board of directors of the Gold Coast Arts Center according to Regina Gil, founder and executive director of the Great Neck-based arts and cultural enrichment organization. Kaiman, a resident of Great Neck, is currently Deputy Suffolk County Executive and was appointed by Governor Andrew Cuomo in 2013 to lead the New York Rising Community Reconstruction Program after superstorm Sandy.

“Jon is an experienced leader who has proven his ability to embrace new projects and make things happen through consensus building, good planning, and hard work,” said Ms. Gil. “He is committed to the arts and education, understands the role the Arts Center plays in enriching the lives of families on Long Island and the impact of the Arts Center as an economic engine throughout the region.”

Previously, Kaiman, who has been on the board since 2012, served as co-president of the Arts Center with Michael Glickman, who recently stepped down after serving as President for five years. He will continue on as a valued member of the board.

“The Gold Coast Arts Center is in capable hands with Jon at the helm,” said Glickman. “He is a highly respected community leader, and I truly enjoyed co-presiding with him, and wish him continued success as we move forward.”

Kaiman is a graduate of Hofstra University and the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University. He was elected judge to the Nassau County District Court in 1999 where he a presided over criminal, civil, landlord/tenant, and municipal code cases. Kaiman is married and has two sons and a daughter. A former trustee of Temple Israel of Great Neck, Kaiman, and his wife are regular players in the synagogue’s annual musical production.
