My dedication and time in pursuit of our shared goals for the Great Neck Library campaign have
proven to be worthwhile. I am eager to begin working with the Board of Trustees to help
strengthen our library and by extension our community.
Libraries are an ecosystem of service that enrich our neighborhood. The Great Neck Library has
been an integral part of my personal development and is what inspired me to become an
apprentice at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Thomas J. Watson Library and to work on a
project under the guidance of the Library of Congress. Through these experiences, I learned the
skills that are pertinent to understanding a library system. These priceless centers of information
provide the necessary structure to empower their members as future leaders so that they too can
later give back to their diverse communities, just as I am ready to.

I look forward to being able to implement my campaign policies, in particular bringing further
visibility to the youth and creating a Young Leadership Committee in order to give leverage to
those who can’t vote.
I am thankful to have been elected to the Board of Trustees and look forward to being a positive
voice in our community.
Warm regards,
Josephine Mairzadeh
