Kim Kaiman to Take Leading Role in 'Grease'

Making headlines of her own this summer, Kim Kaiman has been cast to play Sandy in the Port Washington Play Troupe production of "Grease." 

Having stepped out of her “comfort-zone” when she auditioned for the popular musical earlier this month, Kaiman said she knew that this was a production she really wanted to be a part of after growing-up singing “Summer Nights” with her childhood girlfriends.

"We would argue with each other as to who would sing Sandy’s lines," said Kaiman of Great Neck."To think that I now have this amazing opportunity to do this in front of a live audience still has me stunned, and yet incredibly humbled and honored."

Singing "Summer Nights" and sharing the stage with Kaiman will be Rich Jacques, who has been cast as Danny. The jazz crooner and Patch editor said he's excited to be making his first appearance on a Long Island stage with Kaiman.

"She is a must-see talent that I'm sure everyone will enjoy watching perform," said Jacques. "It will be such a fun show with a great cast."

Kaiman, the wife of Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Jon Kaiman, said she's looking forward to working with such an amazing ensemble of talented people. "I can’t wait to help bring this all-time favorite musical to life at the Landmark this July!"

In a unique twist to the popular Broadway show, all "Grease" cast members are age 30 and over.

Tickets are not yet available for six shows scheduled during the last two weekends in July at the historic Landmark in Port Washington. Check with Patch for more information as it becomes available.
