'Your Big Break' Talent Contest Entry Deadline Extended

If you think you've got talent and you're looking for a shot, you may be in luck.

The opening showcase for the "Your Big Break" talent contest has been changed to Dec. 15. with applications still being accepted, according to the Great Neck Arts Center website.

Originally scheduled for Nov. 10 and Dec. 8 at the Great Neck Arts Center, applications for the semi-final production remains open to musicians who do not have a recording or publishing contract.

The event, sponsored by the Gold Coast Acoustic Cafe and Love Revolution.org production is asking for online submissions from performers, ages 12-25, to be chosen to perform in the upcoming talent showcase at the GNAC on Dec. 10. Contest finals will be Jan. 12 at the same venue.

To enter, contestants must submit one mp3 song, one photo and a short bio to GNACBigBreak@gmail.com. Interested artists must perform with a backing track or acoustic guitar. No full bands are eligible, event rules.

Prizes include recording and rehearsal time, photo and video shoots, publicity and promotion, radio and TV campaigns, musical equipment — a chance to open for national acts at major venues, according to event organizers.

Judges for contest include representatives of major music venues, record companies and musicians, including:

• Webster Hall (which is offering an opening slot for a national act to the winner)

• Five Towns College (which is offering a one hour mentoring session to the winner)
