Make Sense of Prostate Cancer Treatment Options
There are many options; here's some help making sense of them.

Men diagnosed with prostate cancer are in an unusual position when it comes to treatment. There are usually several prostate cancer treatment choices to consider (see slide show below). In fact, one option may be no treatment at all, but active surveillance.
Multiple possibilities give reasons for hope. Yet patients can get overwhelmed by trying to figure out what’s best for them.
To reduce this confusion, the North Shore-LIJ Cancer Institute offers dual consultations to help men understand their prostate cancer treatment options. During dual consultations, the patient (often accompanied by his significant other) meets with a radiation oncologist and urologist to discuss the particulars of his case. Having both specialists on hand to address concerns allows the patient to make an educated decision about which option is best for him.
