MINEOLA, N.Y. β The Nassau County District Attorneyβs Office announced that a Freeport woman pleaded guilty today to aggravated vehicular homicide and other charges in a 2020 high-speed crash that killed a 39-year old woman and injured the victimβs eight-year old son.

Β Nicole Pollock, 28, of Freeport, pleaded guilty before Judge Patricia Harrington to aggravated vehicular homicide (a B felony), manslaughter in the second degree (a C felony), assault in the second degree (a D violent felony), assault in the third degree (an A misdemeanor), driving while ability impaired by the combined influence of drugs or of alcohol and any drug or drugs, and aggravated driving while intoxicated. The defendant is expected to be sentenced to six to 18 years in prison on August 11.Β
Β βThis tragedy was the direct result of the defendantβs decision to drink and get behind the wheel β costing a woman her life and a son, his mother,β Acting DA Joyce Smith said. βNo plea or sentence to follow can erase the heartache of this young man and his family, but we hope this outcome provides some sense that justice has been done.β Β Β Β

According to the investigation, on Sunday, February 2, 2020, at approximately 12:02 a.m., Lissette Quintanilla, 39, was driving north on the Meadowbrook Parkway just north of exit M7 in a red Kia with her eight-year old son.
The defendant, operating a grey Nissan Rogue, was driving at a high rate of speed while highly intoxicated. Pollock collided with the back of the Kia, causing the victim to lose control of her vehicle, cross lanes of traffic into a wooded area and crash into a tree.
Quintanilla died in the collision and her eight-year-old son suffered a fractured arm and other injuries.Β
The defendantβs vehicle came to rest along a side rail north of the fatal crash.
This case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Christopher Casa of the NCDAβs Vehicular Crimes Bureau. The defendant is represented by Dennis Lemke, Esq.Β
