Report: Peter Luger Being Sued by Former Waiters

Past employees accuse Great Neck restaurant of failure to pay for work performed.

Peter Luger Steak House in Great Neck is being sued by four former waiters who say the restaurant failed to pay them overtime and minimum wage for work done as far back as 2007, according to a Newsday report.

The lawsuit, filed last week in U.S. District Court in Central Islip, alleges the restaurant did not pay the waiters for prep work performed before and after their shifts, for time spent working through breaks and for money deducted from a daily tip pool to pay kitchen workers, according to Newsday.

Both federal and state labor-law violations have been violated by the restaurant, according to the waiters' attorneys who are seeking class-action status.

An attorney for Peter Luger told Newsday the restaurant has been in full compliance with all state and federal wage and hour laws.
