Robber Fled From Officers, Resisted Arrest: Police

Police say he is also being investigated for several other robberies in Nassau County.

Nassau police arrested a Brooklyn man Tuesday after they say he robbed a home in Great Neck Estates and then fled from officers.

According to police, Donn Chung, 49, of East 7th Street, entered a home on Shore Drive in Great Neck Estates around 11:15 a.m. Tuesday. Police say he stole several items from the home, and then was seen by detectives leaving the home and getting into a gray 2008 Honda Civic. When the detectives tried to stop him, police say Chung fled the scene in his car, driving over the lawn of a home on Cedar Drive and causing about $1,000 worth of damage.

Police say Chung continued driving on Cedar Drive until he crashed into a storm drain off of Ridge Drive East. He then got out of the car and fled on foot, police say. Detectives managed to catch up with him and attempted to place him under arrest, but Chung flailed his arms and resisted, police say. After a brief struggle, police say hew as placed under arrest.

Police say that Chung is also under investigation for several other robberies in Nassau County, including several in Port Washington.

Chung is charged with second-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief and resisting arrest. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
