Silverstein Hebrew Academy Students Give Back to Those in Need During the Jewish New Year

Great Neck, NY- Silverstein Hebrew Academy seventh and eighth grade students recently visited the Jewish Community Council of the Rockaway Peninsula to help pack food bags for families in need for Rosh Hashanah. Students participated in this activity as part of a Silverstein Hebrew Academy initiative to help those less fortunate and find avenues to help its students engage in meaningful, purposeful community service. As students at SHA, middle school students are expected to commit from five (5) to 20 hours per school year to community service activities.

The Silverstein Hebrew Academy’s mission is to provide a well-rounded education in Jewish cultural heritage as well as an advanced secular education. The community service initiative is designed to support this mission and help SHA students become engaged, contributing members of a global community.
