Snow Causing Problems On LIRR

BREAKING: The LIRR is reporting delays due to "wintry weather conditions" and commuters are not pleased with uncleared train platforms.

The Long Island Rail Road is reporting delays on numerous branches due to "wintry weather conditions" Thursday morning.

A total of 2-3 inches of snow was expected to fall on the island through the morning and as any LIRR commuter can tell you, it's tough for the railroad to remain on schedule when it's a sunny summer day.

Several commuters have complained on Twitter regarding uncleared and slippery platforms at LIRR stations. Thursday morning.

Here are the delays currently being reported:

  • The 7:40AM train from Ronkonkoma due Atlantic Terminal at 9:01AM is operating 13 minutes late due to wintry weather conditions.
  • The 8:04AM train from Huntington due Penn at 9:08AM is operating 10 minutes late due to wintry weather conditions.
  • The LIRR is experiencing westbound delays of up to 20 minutes west of Jamaica due to signal trouble near Woodside.
