Students Return to Class Tuesday

Great Neck schools open again after nearly two weeks of school closings.

Great Neck public schools will be open Tuesday after nearly two weeks of cancellations.

Power outages caused by superstorm Sandy and a nor'easter the following week have forced district officials to call off nearly all classes for students since Oct. 29. 

Schools were closed Monday for Veterans Day.

Classes have been is session just one day in the past two weeks with the school district still not 100 percent operational.

Due to circumstances related to the storm, GNPS/TV Channel 75 is unable to broadcast to Cablevision customers.

"Both LIPA and Cablevision are working to fix these issues and we will be back on the air as soon as possible," according to a statement on the school district website.

FIOS Channel 32 is broadcasting the district's schedule of programs to Verizon customers, according to the district.
