USMMA Falls to Catholic in Landmark Hoops Tourney
Mariners come up short in upset bid Wednesday.

The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men's basketball team fell to top-seeded Catholic University in the Landmark Conference semifinals Wednesday.
The Mariners (14-12) kept it close but lost 65-57 on the road at the DeFour Center in Washington, D.C.
After leading by two at the half, Catholic (23-3) pushed its lead to 40-30 before a Merchant Marine rally made it 43-40 with 14:28 remaining in the game.
A three-pointer by USMMA with 36.7 seconds left made the score 62-57, but that was as close as the Mariners got. In the closing seconds, a Mariner foul led to a Catholic player hitting one-of-two at the charity stripe, with USMMA missing a three point attempt on its last possession.
