Vigilant Fire Company Opens Historical Exhibit at Great Neck Public Library

The Great Neck Vigilant Engine & Hook & Ladder Co., Inc. (Vigilant Fire Company) recently opened an exhibit in the Great Neck Public Library. The month-long historical exhibit celebrates the Company’s 80th year of providing EMS services to the Great Neck peninsula—north of the Long Island Railroad.

“While we continue to celebrate 80 years of EMS-related service to the Great Neck community, we wanted to find a unique way to give back to the community and thank them for their continued support,” said Vigilant Chief Josh Forst. “Offering residents, especially our youngest residents, an opportunity to visit their local library and view some of our memorabilia and artifacts is a fitting way to honor this milestone.”

The exhibit will take residents through the past eight decades with old pictures of Vigilant members and emergency response vehicles—all dating back to 1937. EMS-related equipment and memorabilia will also be on display. Visit the Great Neck Public Library, located at 159 Bayview Avenue, through June 27 to view the exhibit.
