The Greece Central School District credits expanded stop-arm cameras and route adjustments, while urging parents to remind kids to avoid distractions when getting on and off buses. Rochester’s similar program is also seeing heavy use.

2. Braddock Bay Park in Greece to be renamed Donald J. Riley Park in honor of former town supervisor (whec.com) — Braddock Bay Park in Greece will be renamed Donald J. Riley Park, honoring the former town supervisor who helped bring the park and marina under town control. A public dedication is set for Thursday, Sept. 17 at 11:30 a.m. at Lodge One, and residents are invited to celebrate Riley’s decades of impact on local infrastructure and public safety.

3. Greece PD: Double predicate felon and woman found in stolen car with drugs (rochesterfirst.com) — Greece Police say they stopped a stolen vehicle on West Ridge Road Wednesday evening and arrested two occupants after finding a small amount of drugs. The pair face multiple charges related to stolen property, controlled substances, and unauthorized use of a vehicle, and were taken to Monroe County Jail. The case involves an alleged double-predicate felon with an active parole warrant.

4. Monroe County approves $160K border security grant despite concerns (thetimesherald.com) — Monroe County legislators narrowly approved a $160,000 federal Operation Stonegarden border-security grant that will fund overtime for the sheriff’s office and police in Greece, Irondequoit, and Webster. Supporters say it boosts public safety without enforcing federal immigration law, while opponents worry about transparency, civil rights, and strings attached to the money.
