Shoemaker elected ninth bishop of the Diocese of Long Island (episcopalnewsservice.org) — A major Episcopal milestone is coming right to Greenvale this fall, with the ordination and consecration of bishop-elect Rev. Adam J. Shoemaker scheduled for Sept. 19 at the Tilles Center. Chosen by clergy and lay delegates from across the Diocese of Long Island, Shoemaker will succeed Bishop Lawrence Provenzano and lead congregations spanning Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk counties.
