5 Places to Get the Best Christmas Tree
Whether you're looking for a live or a life-like tree, here are 5 local places with terrific selections.
Were you planning on running out this weekend to pick up your Christmas tree? Don't worry. There are plenty of places in the area that can accommodate you. Here are five:
1 - Live trees - Visit the Melville Fire Department on Sweet Hollow Road next to Sunquam Elementary School. They are selling Christmas trees, wreaths and roping in the lot adjacent to the firehouse. They have an extensive selection of live trees in many different styles, sizes and price ranges. The lot is open Monday thru Friday from 4:30-9:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 9:30 a.m.-9:30 p.m..
2- Live trees - American Wholesale Nurseries located on the North Service Road of the LIE in Dix Hills also has a large selection of fresh cut trees, live balled trees, wreaths, roping, poinsettias, tree stands and lights. Their holiday hours are Monday to Wednesday 9 a.m.-8 p.m., Thursday to Saturday 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. and Sunday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m.

3 - Live trees - Prianti Farms on Deer Park Road in Dix Hills has an extensive collection of fresh Balsam, Douglas and Fraser firs lining their aisles. Also visit this nursery for wreaths, roping, greens and floral arrangements, a large assortment of premade evergreen planters and decor in various sizes, poinsettias in pinks, reds and whites, lights, bows, holiday trim, lawn decor and seasoned firewood which is available for pick up or delivery. They are open 7 days a week from 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
4 - Life-like trees - Laura's Floral Elegance on Jericho Tpke. in East Northport has more than 25 fully decorated trees in various themes and colors. This full-service floral shop also has decorated or undecorated trees in planters, an extensive assortment of holiday decor, including figurines, stockings, table toppers, tree skirts and serving pieces, as well as wreaths and garlands, including custom-made orders designed by owner Laura Merlein and staff. Their hours are Monday to Saturday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunda,y 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

5 - Life-like trees - Harrow's on Route 110 in Farmingdale has one of the largest selections of trees with over 200 styles, sizes and price ranges, including pre-lit trees. They also carry an extensive selection of indoor and outdoor lights, ornaments, trim, decorations and lawn figurines. Their hours are Monday to Friday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
