The Blue Devils recognized captains Henry Gerberg and Presley Moss along with teammates Luca Terrado and Matthew James during a pregame ceremony with parents and family members before Huntington rallied for an 8-5 win.

Head coach John Romano continued a longtime tradition before first pitch, inviting fathers to throw one final strike to their sons.

“To represent a full circle moment of all the hard work these seniors have put in throughout their career and also to say thank you to the parents for everything they have done throughout their baseball career dating back to little league,” Romano said.

Huntington struck first when Jesse Blohm doubled down the left field line in the opening inning. Moss dominated early, striking out 10 of the first 13 batters he faced.

After Centereach took a 4-2 lead in the fifth inning, the Blue Devils exploded for six runs in the sixth to take control. James delivered the biggest hit of the inning with a two-run single.

Moss finished with 13 strikeouts over 6.2 innings before Gerberg came in to record the final out and secure the save.

Huntington collected 11 hits in the win, with Moss, Joey Perotti and Gabe MacManus each reaching base multiple times.

Huntington Girls Lacrosse Defeats State-Ranked Ward Melville

Huntington girls lacrosse delivered one of its biggest wins of the season with a commanding 9-3 victory over state-ranked Ward Melville at Alumni Field.

Bridget Callery scored three goals as the Blue Devils overwhelmed the Patriots defensively and continued climbing the New York State rankings.

The game was tightly contested early before Huntington erupted for four unanswered second-quarter goals to take a 7-2 halftime lead.

Callery was backed by another balanced offensive effort from Grace Gordon, Ava Bencivenga, Valentina Puccio, Olivia Puccio and Ava McDonald.

Goalie Juliet Johnson starred again in net with nine saves while Huntington’s defense shut down one of Suffolk County’s most dangerous offenses.

The victory pushed Huntington to No. 8 in the New York State Sportswriters Association Class A rankings.

The Blue Devils also recently defeated New Jersey powerhouse Ridgewood, ranked No. 11 nationally among public schools, on a late goal from Valentina Puccio in a 7-6 thriller.

Huntington Flag Football Continues Building Momentum

The Huntington varsity flag football team closed another competitive spring season while continuing to establish itself as a rising program in Suffolk County.

The Blue Devils finished with five wins — a program best — while competing in several close games throughout the season.

Isabelle Colato led Huntington with seven interceptions, while Bella Duke scored eight touchdowns and finished with more than 300 receiving yards.

Timeyah Hardge recorded 89 flag pulls and an interception with two touchdowns, while quarterback Khi Casey accounted for more than 300 yards and 10 touchdowns.

“Every starter returns next season,” head coach Malcolm Eugene said. “This is a young, tough, hardworking team that is looking to improve.”

Eugene said Huntington plans to continue building the program through offseason leagues, clinics and expanded opportunities for middle school athletes.
