DIX HILLS, NY — Water service has been restored after a system-wide malfunction in the Dix Hills Water District left much of the area without water Wednesday morning, according to the Town of Huntington.
The malfunction caused the water tanks to receive a false reading on tank quantity, town officials said in a statement.
“The issue has been resolved, and water is now flowing normally,” the town said.
The water issue affected the Half Hollow Hills Central School District, which announced Wednesday that it would implement districtwide remote instruction under its emergency closure plan. Virtual instruction operated on a two-hour delayed opening schedule for all students, according to the district.
