Antique of the Week: 1940’s Peanut Machine

On Monday, we gave you a look back at . Today, we're bringing it back to life with our Antique of the Week: a 1940s peanut machine from the park's Queens location.
The peanut machine that used to dispense peanuts for either one penny or 5 cents, depending on desired serving, at Fairyland amusement park located on Woodhaven Blvd. in Queens back in the 1950’s.

According to the April 11, 1953 edition of “The Billboard” newspaper, Fairyland offered 14 rides, restaurant and Penny Arcade for children in the surrounding area.
The rides included a large Merry-Go-Round, Sky Fighter ride, water boat ride, a Whip, Pony cart and track, a fire engine ride, Ferris wheel, and a train. Tickets cost 14 cents per ride. Visitors could also buy a season book for $2.50, which included 28 tickets.

Fairyland closed its doors in 1968 and is now the site of Queens Center Mall including Macy’s department store.
Here is your chance to own a piece of amusement park memorabilia. The peanut machine is selling for $375 at the Antique Market located at 700 East Jericho Turnpike.
The Antique Market is open for business 7 days a week from 11 am to 5 pm.
