Artist Coming to Temple Beth El

Judaic artist and calligrapher Mordechai Rosenstein will be in residence at Temple Beth El of Huntington from Oct. 18 to Oct. 20. 

Rosenstein's use of Hebrew lettering in his bright and bold limited-edition silk screen designs has earned him national attention. He is also one of the top designers in the stained-glass field. 

He will present multifaceted, interactive educational and cultural activities for all age groups

Weekend activities include:

• Thursday, Oct. 18 – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., open house
  7:30 p.m. talk by the artist and presentation
• Friday, Oct. 19 – 6:30 p.m., Young Families Art Encounter
   8 p.m., Sabbath services with Rosenstein as guest speaker followed by art viewing and oneg
• Saturday, Oct. 20 – 7:30 p.m., Gala celebration of Rosenstein’s art and reception

Nanci Weber, the event’s chairperson, said, “Mordechai creates myriad pieces, utilizing vibrant colors and flowing lines that transform the unique art of Hebrew calligraphy into a modern-day feast for the eyes.” 

She said that during Thursday’s open house, Rosenstein will have an art studio in the atrium where he will produce an original piece with visitors adding brush strokes to create a personalized, collaborative flavor.
