Are You Voting for the $19.75 Million Dix Hills Fire Facilities Bond on June 14?

Nineteen point seven-five million dollars. Really? This was news to me.

I received an eye-popping email today that I just have to share... It's about the upcoming bond vote on June 14, 2011 at the Dix Hills Fire Dept Headquarters on Deer Park Rd by Northern Parkway. This $19.75 million bond is to build three new facilities including a training tower. Nineteen point seven-five million dollars. Really? This was news to me. Is it news to you to?

Here is an excerpt from the neighborhood watch email that I received:

"This $19.75 million dollar number was not included in the notice to the community.  Nor was the fact that the $19.75 million dollars is to replace one building with three.  Is this new construction really necessary in these difficult economic times?  It appears that the Fire Department has not made its needs or plans transparent to the community.
