Last-Minute, Homemade Halloween Costumes

Try taking a good look in your closet or a thrift store ,and with just a few accessories you might already have the starts to a noteworthy Halloween costume at your disposal.

Are you looking to have a creative Halloween costume but don’t have the money in your budget for one?  Try taking a good look in your closet or a thrift store and with just a few accessories you may already have the starts to a noteworthy Halloween costume at your disposal. 

Make the classics by reusing and recycling!  Use accessories and things you already have to make your own costumes or look through a friend’s closet for some fun stuff!   Little to no purchasing is required—and no sewing! Just takes a creative eye, a little bit of makeup, and a few accessories.  These costumes work great for everyone in the family!

Girls/Women:

Gypsy:

All you need: scarf, long skirt, beads, Bengals bracelets, gold hoop earrings.

80s chick:

All you need: Neon colors (shirt/skirt/shorts—whatever you have will work!), leggings, leg warmers.  Make sure to tease your hair and spray it up and accessorize with bright jewelry and bright blue eye shadow!

Pink Lady:

All you need: black leggings or leather pants, pink jacket (or leather jacket) curly hair, sunglasses

Cowgirl:

All you need: Cow girl hat, flannel shirt, jean skirt/shorts, cowboy boots

Nerd/geek:

All you need: Collared shirt, black thick rimmed glasses (with tape in between for broken look), hair in pig tails, pens in pocket, pleated skirt, knee high socks

Hippie:

All you need: Tie dye shirt, long flowy skirt, sandals, cloth head band, beads and round sunglasses!!

Miss America/prom queen:

All you need: Great chance to put your old bridesmaid dresses or prom dress to use!   Just wear a formal dress, make sash that holds whatever title you want (miss America / Prom Queen) and doll yourself up!

Rosie the Riveter:
All you need: A red bandana, a collared buttondown shirt, and red lipstick!  Put your hair in a bun and wrap the bandana around as a headband.  Remember to keep flexing your muscles all night!

 

Boys/men:

Pirate:
All you need: white button down- loose with arm buttons open or stripped t-shirt, vest, bandana, cut sweat pants (knee length)—may have to buy pirate hat/ eye patch. 

Greaser:
All you need: Leather jacket, jeans, white shirt, greased back hair.  (may even want to go as “Fonzi” with this look! )

Cowboy:
All you need: Flannel shirt, jeans, cowboy boots, cowboy hat, toy gun. 

Army man (G.I. Joe):
All you need: A camo shirt and camo pants/shorts.  Add combat/army boots for more detail!   

Secret agent:
All you need: Tuxedo (or suit with bow tie), clean shaved face, clean cut hair and fake gun. 

Nerd:
All you need: Collared shirt, black thick rimmed glasses (with tape in between for broken look), messy hair, pens in pocket, clean ironed pants. 

Hippie:
All you need: Tie dye shirt, flowy pants, sandals, cloth head band, beads and round sunglasses!!  

Scarecrow:
All you need: flannel shirt, ripped jeans or overalls, straw hat, stuff hat and shirt with straw.

American tourist:
All you need:  Hawaiian shirt, camera (tied around the neck), fanny pack, maps

Where’s Waldo:
All you need: red and white stripped shirt or sweater as well as a red hat (or ski cap) with poof ball. Don’t forget about the black rimmed glasses!
