New Social Media Group Starting - If You Like Social Media, You Will Love Our Association!
New social media association forming for professional marketers, public relations professionals and anyone interested in social media from beginner to advanced.
A new group just formed here on Long Island, called the Social Media Association, Inc., (SMA) and it’s for marketing people, communications folks, bloggers or anyone who is interested in social media.
The first meeting will be held on Friday, June 15th at 8:30 a.m. at 145 Pinelawn Road in Melville. It’s being graciously hosted by Greenway Plaza Office Park.
The meeting will open with a discussion on a new social networking site or application that is of interest to the community. After that, there will be a guest speaker. Friday’s guest speaker is Ken Braun of Lounge Lizard who will talk about his new social networking site, ManWall, for men who want to be men.

Although it’s a little controversial, the discussion will provide the audience with some insight as to how social networking sites get started, like the popular Facebook.
I am the president and founder of SMA. I felt that we needed a group specifically geared for social media by social media professionals. This is a peer group. It’s not a networking group. It’s a place to share information and insights about social media with fellow marketers.

Professional membership is $100, Student membership is $25 and Corporate membership is $250 for up to three people. Membership includes discounts to all events, free admissions to tweet-ups (a tweet-up is a networking meeting where you have the opportunity to tweet at the same time) and educational information and training.
