The Root of Sadness

Weekly Rabbi's Message! :)

We can have debates but not about this! :) Tonight as we usher in the lights of Shabbat, we do so while celebrating Sukkot -- the "festival of our joy".  Of all the yearly Jewish festivals, Sukkot is unique in that its central theme is joy.  So how do we attain true joy?  The root of sadness is when we have expectations in life that are unmet.  When we realize, however, that everything that transpires in life is for a Divine reason and purpose, and that G-d is the Source of all that is good, it gives us confidence and joy, knowing that even though life may seem challenging, it is all for the good.  In this way, our joy is an expression of faith and purpose.  As you light your Shabbat candles today before sunset, take a moment to feel the joy of G-d's plan; know that everything is for a reason, and that our faith is the conduit to infinite joy.  Shabbat Shalom and Happy Sukkot from TheChaiCenter.com!

With blessing for a most enjoyable and rejuvenating Shabbat and YomTov!
