Fire Tears Through Dix Hills Home

A fire ripped through a Dix Hills home Tuesday afternoon and caused serious damages, fire officials said.

An Arielle Court home broke out in flames around 2 p.m. and the blaze extended to the house next door, sources told Patch.

According to fire officials, firefighters successfully protected the adjoining house from flying embers that landed on the home.

There have been no reports of any injuries.

The fire was brought under control around 4 p.m., fire officials said.

About 70 firefighters responded to the scene with 10 trucks. The units were under the command of Dix Hills Fire Chief Robert Fling.

Mutual aid at the scene of the fire was provided by Huntington First Aid Squad, Commack Ambulance Corps and Huntington Manor, Melville, Greenlawn, East Northport and Huntington fire departments.

Deer Park, North Babylon and Wyandanch fire departments provided standby coverage for Dix Hills.
