Canon Executive Ranks 6th on LI Press "Power List"
Seymour Liebman, who is planning the company's move to Melville, makes the list for the second year in a row.

The executive vice president of Canon U.S.A., Inc., which is scheduled to move to Melville next year, has been named among the “50 Most Influential Long Islanders of 2012 by the Long Island Press.
It is the second year in a row that Seymour Liebman, who is also the chief administrative officer, general counsel of Canon U.S.A., Inc., executive officer of Canon Inc., Japan, and president of Canon Information and Imaging Solutions, Inc. has been included on the list. This year, he moved up three spots to rank sixth, which is one slot above Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone.
Stuart Rabinowitz, President of Hofstra University, came in first.

During a reception held on June 11, Liebman was also awarded with the 2012 Long Island MacArthur Airport “Take Flight” Award, given to the person who best represents the future of business on Long Island and for dedication and commitment to growing the Long Island economy.
From his new office on Walt Whitman Road, Liebman will be overseeing decisions made within the company.

“…We are very excited about the completion of our new Americas headquarters in Melville at the end of the year and we look forward to remaining a part of the Long Island community for years to come,” Liebman said in a release.
The business leader joined the Canon U.S.A. Accounting Division in 1974 as a Manager and was promoted to Vice President in 1987. Two years later in 1989, he established the in-house legal department at Canon U.S.A., where he currently oversees more than 20 attorneys. He was promoted to Executive Vice President and General Manager for Administration and Regional Operations as well as being named General Counsel in 1996. In 2008 he was appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer, titles he currently holds, overseeing all legal affairs and corporate administration functions for Canon Americas.
In 2009, he became the first non-Japanese member to be appointed as an Executive Officer of Canon Inc. by the Company’s shareholders and Board of Directors. Last year the Company launched Canon Information and Imaging Solutions, a wholly owned subsidiary of Canon U.S.A. and appointed Liebman as its President.
In addition to his work with Canon U.S.A, Liebman currently serves as a board member for various local councils and associations including the Touro Law Center where he serves on the Board of Governors, the Long Island Association Board of Directors, the Information Technology Industry Council, the Council of Overseers for the Tilles Center and the Board of Directors of Zygo Corporation.
