Eagle Scouts Give Hills East a New Look
A new sign marks the front entrance at the home of the Thunderbirds.

Thanks to the work of two Eagle Scouts, the question "Where's the main entrance?" will never be asked again at .
As part of an Eagle Scout project, Christopher Catania and Ryan Kober designed a new entranceway for the school. A sign at the building now reads, "Welcome to Half Hollow Hills High School East — Home of the Thunderbirds."
The scouts efforts include several beautification projects including the new sign and landscaping such as plants, front shrubbery landscaping, and grounds keeping surrounding the electronic lawn sign.

Catania designed the front entrance and Kober completed the shrubbery for his Eagle Scout project.
Recent graduate Johnathan Bacchus was also instrumental in bringing to fruition the long-awaited electronic lawn sign. Over the summer, he worked with his peers to create the the colorful landscaping surrounding the school’s electronic sign, making it a landmark for the community.

This particular project began over a year ago with the Site Based Management team and inspired negotiations of student team leader Joshua Shinbrot, an original architectural design by former student Justin Stricker, and the assistance of the district's Facilities and Operations Supervisor Anthony Fede.
