Musical Performance - Karen Oberlin pays Tribute to Doris Day

Karen Oberlin has often been compared to Ms. Day in her work as a vocalist. Oberlin has been hailed as one of the premier interpreters of the Great American Songbook and has headlined, just in New York, at The Oak Room at the Algonquin, Feinstein’s at the Regency, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Iridium Jazz Club, Merkin Hall, The Town Hall, among many others, and has toured worldwide. She has been the recipient of Nightlife, MAC and Bistro Awards and she is a recording artist with three CD’s with a fourth due late 2012.

The song list will include beloved favorites such as “Que Sera, Sera,” “Sentimental Journey,” and of course the title song, “Secret Love” but also includes many rare, poignant songs that show the many sides of this intriguing icon. She’ll be accompanied by the swinging, sensational sounds of the Tedd Firth Septet. In this spectacular show, she delves deeply into the life and music of this intriguing and important cultural phenomenon — from having a baby as a teenager, touring with a big band, to becoming the highest paid woman in Hollywood history while recording sensational songs throughout her varied career.
