A reception for the Art League's exhibit, "Salute! Artwork by and in Honor of LI Veterans" will be held on March 6 from 3-5 p.m.
This tribute to our veterans features a group of large, mixed media paintings and painted clay sculptures by artist and Melville resident, Paul Pomeranz, a World War II tail gunner shot down and taken prisoner, who survived the 600-mile death march across Germany in 1945. His works depict the World War II bombing raids on both European and Pacific targets in a colorful and symbolic manner.
Also on view are paintings by Erich Preis, a muralist and advocate for homeless veterans, along with works by sculptor Dominic Palma and veterans Thomas de Luca, Mike Walsh, and Ed Nussbaum, among others, celebrating the valor and comradeship of our servicemen and women.
