A vacant home in Dix Hills was seriously damaged after it caught fire Sunday morning, according to fire officials.
The Dix Hills Fire Department responded to the fire, located at Carriage Court, around 6:30 a.m. About 50 volunteer firefighters helped knock down the fire within a half-hour.

This was the second major house fire in Dix Hills in the last week and the thirteenth major house fire in the past year, fire officials reported.

The fire is under investigation by the Suffolk Police Arson Squad and the Huntington Town Fire Marshal.
All units were under the command of Chief Robert Fling, and operations by Assistant Chiefs Tom Napolitano and Joe Williamson. The Dix Hills Fire Department received help from the Dix Hills Rescue Squad and the Melville Fire Department at the scene and the Deer Park and Greenlawn fire departments provided standby coverage.
