Free Massages At Work
Employees of a Melville law firm submitted a wish-list for new office design.

Would you be a better employee if you had a back massage once a week? A Melville law firm thinks so and is fulfilling their employees' wishes as the office moves to a bigger location.
Studies have shown that happy employees produce better work, are sick less often and work better with others. The heads of Genser Dubow Genser & Cona, an elder law and estate planning firm in Melville, have taken a cue from science, and allowed their workers to design the firm's new office space with a "wish list" of things that would make the office a more enjoyable environment.
What did they choose? The majority of employees said they would like as much natural light as possible so they chose a building where three of the four walls have windows. In addition, the designer created a wall with clear glass to the ceiling in the private offices that open to the interior space. The space plan was designed so there wouldn’t be any obstruction of light.

A meditation room was a unique feature also requested by many of the employees. Managing partner Jennifer Cona will transform an interior office into a Zen garden with an artificial waterfall, comfortable couch and an iPod available with soft music.
Laptops in each of the three conference rooms, specific computer software, an electronic fax program, more file cabinets in each office, a printer in each department, an assembly area to compile documents, mailboxes outside each attorney’s office, a double sink in the kitchen, water and icemaker in the refrigerator are some of the other requests that will be fulfilled.

In addition, all employees can be treated to a one hour massage right in the office on a regular basis. Once a week, a masseuse will do a fully clothed full body massage for those employees that sign up for it in a private room to include a special table for this purpose.
Not only does the firm take care of its employees but its clients and the community as well. The will offer a special resource room in the new facility that will have information on all aspects of senior living, finances, health care and more. It will be open twice a week, and people can stop in anytime to take materials and speak with an attorney to have their questions answered.
The relocation will take place by February.
