Donovan Fraser Commits to Univ. of Maryland

The Hills West soccer sensation is officially a Terp, joining the freshman class this Spring.

Twice All-American Athlete Donovan “Donny” Fraser of Half Hollow Hills High School West recently signed his letter of intent to play soccer for the University of Maryland.

Fraser, who is also a New York Scholar Athlete, will be joining the Terps as a freshman this spring semester. Fraser leaves behind a legacy of 25 single season goals and a total of 164 career points, amongst numerous personal and team records.

In addition to his All-American title in his junior and senior years, Fraser was also twice named League IV MVP, and Newsday's All Long-Island Soccer First Team in 2010 and 2011.

His skill and commitment helped lead the Colts in 2010 and 2011 to Suffolk County Quarter Finals, a sixth consecutive League Champion title and ESPN’s list of nationally rising top 50 soccer teams.

As a freshman, Fraser was named Rookie of the Year, and during his sophomore year he received the distinction of All County. He also made the National Pool.

Fraser said he credits much of his success to the leadership, guidance, and training of Coach Doug Gannon. Community service has also been important to him. Fraser spends time volunteering and supporting organizations such as Mothers’ Club of Wheatley Heights, Huntington Youth Court, Jack & Jill of America Inc. and various soup kitchens.
