HHH School Board to Adopt Budget Monday Night

Following a difficult budget process, school board to adopt budget for next year.

The Half Hollow Hills Board of Education will adopt a 2013/14 school budget Monday night.

The current proposal calls for a budget of $228.25 million, which includes a 2.97 percent increase in the school tax levy and a 2.86 year over year spending increase.

To get to those figures (which are within the state tax cap), the district has needed to make numerous cuts. Among the cuts slated to be finalized Monday: cutting middle school from a 9-period to an 8-period day, eliminating drivers' ed, eliminating elementary health teacher positions and the position of director of world languages.

The board meets at 8 p.m. Monday at Chestnut Hill Elementary to adopt the budget. Residents will vote on the budget next month.
