Residents head to the polls Tuesday to cast their ballots on the proposed 2013/14 Half Hollow Hills school budget.
Here's what you need to know:
When: Polls open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m
Where: High School East (50 Vanderbilt Parkway)
What: A budget proposal of $228.25 million for the next school year, which includes a 2.97 percent increase in the school tax levy and a 2.86 year over year spending increase. The proposal is within the state's tax cap.
To get to those figures the district has needed to make numerous cuts. Among the cuts in the budget: cutting middle school from a 9-period to an 8-period day, eliminating drivers' ed, eliminating elementary health teacher positions and the position of director of world languages.
School board trustees Eric Geringswald and David Kaston are running unopposed for re-election.
