High School East Entertains With its Spring Concerts
The music students of Hills East kick off the first of their spring concerts.
The students of the HHH Music Department are wrapping up the end of the school year with a series of spring concerts.
Their first concert of the season was performed Tuesday night and featured the ninth grade band and orchestra, the jazz band, as well as the woman's chorus, vocal jazz and half tones ensembles.
The evening opened with the jazz band, conducted by music teacher Robert Belanich and accompanied by senior Zachary Zadek on piano. They were followed by the ninth grade band program, conducted by Monica Benstock.

Dr. Danielle McRoy, High School East's chorus teacher led her vocal jazz, half tones and women's chorus ensembles in three songs each. McRoy explained that these ensembles are all after school activities. The students that participate do so not only to supplement the school's music program but because they love music and singing.
A special addition to the evening was High School East's first performance by their newly formed, student run, acapella group. This after school group was not only conceived by, but is also run by senior Matthew Jurman. They impressed the audience with their covers of Sara Bareilles' "King of Anything" and the Beatles "There Are Places I Remember."
