The kindergarten students in Robin Greene’s class have spent the past seven weeks learning about the seven continents of theworld. The students benefitted from this enhanced Social Studies curriculum by learning about the continents as if they werenavigating the world.
Mrs. Green worked with the children creating passports, hats from different countries and the classroomwas decorated with the flags of many nations. The children also learned about the weather, indigenous animals, foods, andclothing associated with different cultures and continents.

The students each chose a continent that they wanted to learn more about and developed a presentation based on their research. The students shared their knowledge of other cultures with their families at International Day at Park Shore in apresentation called “Around the World in Seven Ways”.
The students sang songs and each read a report about the continentthat they had chosen. They then took their families on a tour “around the world” using their passports. They then servedtheir families foods from many cultures. The final song of the day was “It’s a Small World After All” which truly seemed anappropriate conclusion of such an amazing cultural experience.
