Melville Company Brings Fashion to 3-D Glasses
Marchon3D creates designer eyewear for movie and television viewing.

A Melville eyewear design company is taking 3-D viewing to the next level by creating fun, comfortable and sleek glasses that can be worn in the theater or outside as sunwear.
Its design and packaging recently earned the 2012 American Package Design Award from Graphic Design USA magazine.
Marchon3D won the award for its new eyewear line featuring bright colors and advanced 3-D technology to match its award-winning look.

The key to its crystal clear image is what is called circular-polarized curved lens technology, in which the lenses are optically contoured to the eye, the company said in a press release. Because the lenses correlate with the natural curvature of the eye, they match any viewing angles that appear on the screen. The lenses are available in stylish clips and wear-overs for viewers who wear prescription lenses.
The glasses work with most entertainment systems including 3D televisions, computers and gaming systems. They also provide 100 percent UVA/UVB/UVC protection and can occasionally be worn outside as sunglasses.

The company, which prides itself on its advanced optical technology is equally focused on the fashion behind the frames. It markets its products under prestigious brands including Calvin Klein, Chloe, Diane von Furstenberg, Emilio Pucci, Fendi, Jil Sander, Karl Lagerfeld, Lacoste, Michael Kors, Nautica, Nike, Nine West, Salvatore Ferragamo, Sean John and Valentino.
Marchon3D's design team, led by Paul Yip, senior art director at Marchon3D, won the award, for its in-theater launch of EX3D.
The launch included a user-friendly vending machine where moviegoers can purchase 3D glasses before going into their shows. Additionally, Marchon3D won for the packaging design, the eyewear display and the printed materials that accompanied the products as they were sold through vending machines in the theater.
