Melville Lawyers Give Hungry Pets a Merry Christmas
Instead of an office gift exchange, a local estate planning office donated to an animal rescue.

Pets in Half Hollow Hills and the Town of Huntington had a visit from Santa this season thanks to a Melville law firm that opted out of giving gifts to each other and gave to an animal rescue instead.
Genser Dubow Genser & Cona (GDGC), an elder law and estate planning firm, donated the money to Little Shelter, an animal rescue and adoption center in Huntington. GDGC offered to match the amount of the employees’ contribution dollar for dollar.
On Dec. 16, three GDGC representatives presented the shelter with a $700 check. The money is specifically designated for the Animal Soup Kitchen, a program which helps those who are impoverished, elderly, disabled or ill and can’t afford pet food, spay/neutering or medical treatment for their animals.

"Pets not only bring great joy to the elderly and disabled but are a great therapeutic resource,” says Jennifer Cona, Esq and managing partner of GDGC. “We want to encourage and support the elderly in having or keeping their pets and our donation to the animal soup kitchen will do just that."
The donation to the furry friends at Little Shelter is only one of many charitable activities that GDGC sponsors throughout the year. The law firm has also put on a Midnight Run to donate food and clothing to the homeless, Senior Dreams Come True – Granting wishes to seniors in need, volunteering at nursing homes and assisted living facilities to involve residents in such activities as putting on a play, games and crafts and LI Cares – offering pro bono legal services for veterans benefits.
