Melville Social Security Office Renovations Postponed

The renovations did not begin this week as originally planned, so the elevator is still functioning for now.

MELVILLE, NY — Renovations at the Social Security Administration office at 1121 Old Walt Whitman Road, Suite 201, Melville, were supposed to begin Monday. Instead, the planned elevator repair was postponed until March 9, the office announced.

Once started, repairs are expected to take up to three weeks. During that time, the office, located on the second floor, will be accessible only via stairs.

The Melville office serves the residents of Bay Hills, Baycrest, Beech Croft, Brentwood, Centerport, Cold Spring Harbor, Commack, Deer Park, Dix Hills, East Northport, Edgewood, Elwood, Farmingdale, Greenlawn, Harbor Heights, Huntington, Kings Park, Melville, Northport, Smithtown, Wheatley Heights, and Wyandanch.

Most Social Security services are available online, by visiting www.socialsecurity.gov, and by phone, by calling Social Security at 1-800-772-1213 or 1-800-325-0778 TTY. While the elevators are under repair, visitors who must conduct their Social Security business in-person, and who require street-level or elevator access, may visit one of the following Social Security offices:

  • 510 Park Ave., West Babylon
  • 211 Station Road, Mineola
  • 84 N. Main St., Freeport

Social Security offices are open to the public Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
