Retired US Army Colonel, Al Vitters, Speaks at The Bristal at East Northport Memorial Day Ceremony

Residents of the Bristal Assisted Living in East Northport honor the memory of those who died in our nation's service

Veterans and residents of the Bristal at East Northport welcomed retired US Army Colonel Alan Vitters as the key note speaker at a Memorial Day Program held in honor of the brave men and women in all branches of military service. A graduate of West Point Military Academy and of Northport High School, Colonel Vitters is a twenty plus year veteran of the Army and the recipient of numerous awards and citations, including the Bronze Star for Valor. He served as a Platoon Leader in Vietnam, a Commander of a mechanized Infantry battalion in Germany and led the prestigious “Honor Guard” in Washington D.C., where he played a significant role in the State funerals of Truman, Johnson and J. Edgar Hoover. Colonel Vitters is a published author and educator. He has taught at West Point in the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Leadership, leading a research team in the exploration of issues surrounding the admission of women.
