Special Weather Statement Issued For Suffolk County
Use caution if you are out on the roadways Tuesday morning.

The National Weather Service has issued the following special weather statement for Suffolk County:
Fog continues across portions of Suffolk County and is expected to remain until early Tuesday morning. Visibilities were generally 1 to 2 miles, however, at times, and in some locations, the fog was dense with visibilities as low as 1/4 mile. Motorists traveling in these areas should be prepared for sudden drops in visibility, slow down and use low beam headlights.
A high surf advisory and a high rip current risk are also in effect until 6 a.m. Wednesday at all ocean beaches in Suffolk. Waves of 5-9 feet are likely thanks to distant Hurricane Maria, which is expected to make a sharp turn out to sea Wednesday and spare Long Island of any direct impacts.
