A+ Style Back to School event, to benefit Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation

Long Islander’s will have a chance to go to the head of the fashion class and raise funds to fight childhood cancer, when Walt Whitman Shops hosts A+ Style Back-to-School event, to benefit Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, on Saturday, September 6 from 1 to 4 p.m. in Center Court.

Participants who make a donation to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, an organization dedicated to realizing Alexandra “Alex” Scott’s dream of eradicating childhood cancer, will receive a souvenir cup and taste delicious variations of lemonade from restaurants at Walt Whitman Shops including P.F. Chang’s China Bistro, Panera Bread, Legal Sea Foods, Zinburger Wine & Burger Bar, California Pizza Kitchen and Brio Tuscan Grille.

“Through A+ Style Back-to-School event, we’re encouraging our shoppers to include giving to a great cause as part of their annual traditions of getting ready for a new academic year,” commented Kathleen Herrmann, director of mall marketing and business development for Walt Whitman Shops. “To that end, in addition to the fundraising opportunity, we will showcase the hottest looks of the season, offer enter-to-win prizes, entertainment and more.

During the event, back-to-school trends will be on full display with fashion shows featuring looks from Lord & Taylor, Bloomingdale’s and Macy’s (models provided by Tower Talent.) In-store specials will be offered at California Pizza Kitchen, Sony, Lucky Brand, Microsoft, Carhartt, Triumph, Everything But Water, kate spade new york and LeCreuset among others. And, shoppers can enter-to-win fabulous prizes from Aire Blow Dry Bar, Vera Bradley and more. Tasty chowder samples will be provided by Legal Sea Foods and lululemon athletica will distribute lemonade ice pops and recipe cards to attendees.

Entertainment will abound and includes performances from The Wonderpuppets Productions and iRock Academy Allstars; “Selfie Station” from Sony; XBOX One with Microsoft and the latest “toys” from Brookstone. Children will be treated to fun and interactive elements such as characters and face painting from Little Redhead Entertainment; golf demo/mini lessons from TGA Premier Junior Golf; musical instruments from Bach to Rock; recycled art project from Tutor Time Learning Center of Melville; Latin lessons from Village East Gifted; sensory art project from Helping Hands Children’s Services; Magic Scratch bookmarks and postcards with Suffolk Speech; science project with LI Science Center; Lego spin art with Bricks 4 Kidz and more.
