Woman Rescued From Minivan in Dix Hills Crash

The woman was trapped inside her vehicle, which was flipped on its side Saturday afternoon, according to fire officials.

A woman was rescued from her minivan after she was involved in a two-car accident in Dix Hills Saturday afternoon.

The Dix Hills Fire Department responded to a crash on Commack Road, north of Euclid Avenue, where a minivan was on its side with a woman trapped inside.

Northbound and southbound lanes of Commack Road were closed for about 40 minutes due to the crash.

Firefighters used heavy rescue tools to quickly rescue the woman by removing the windshield, fire officials said.

The drivers of both vehicles suffered injuries and were transported to area hospitals.

About 20 Dix Hills volunteer firefighters and rescue personnel responded to the scene with two ambulances and three heavy rescue trucks.
