The Porters, back in varsity play after a hiatus, are already eyeing an Oct. 16 Homecoming rematch at Hampton Bays, hoping to show how much they've improved over the season.
• Creator of the US Open's official cocktail lives on Mercer Island (cascadepbs.org) — A Hampton Bays resident, mixologist Nick Mautone, is the creator of the wildly popular Honey Deuce cocktail served at the U.S. Open in Queens. He recalls how inspiration struck while preparing melon balls at his Hampton Bays home, and shares the simplified recipe that lets tennis fans and locals alike recreate the tournament's signature drink in their own kitchens.
