10 People Shot Within 3 Hours In Harlem, Police Say

Seven people were shot during a barbecue and three other were shot during a fight in two separate incidents this weekend, police said.

HARLEM, NY — Ten people were shot in a span of three hours this weekend in Harlem, an NYPD spokesman told Patch.

The first shooting occurred Saturday night in Morningside Park, police said. Around 11:30 p.m. a man opened fire during a barbecue, injuring seven people, police told Patch. Five men and two woman suffered gunshot wounds and were taken to three area hospitals in stable condition, police told Patch.

Just hours later, around 2:30 a.m., a fight broke out in the George Washington Carver Houses public housing development in East Harlem, police told Patch. During the fight, three men were shot, an NYPD spokesman said.

The three men were taken to the hospital suffering non life-threatening injuries, police told Patch.

The shooters from both incidents avoided arrest, police said.
