Girl Jumps To Death From East Harlem Building, Officials Say

The girl was pronounced dead after being rushed to the hospital, officials said.

EAST HARLEM, NY — An 11-year-old girl died after jumping from an East Harlem public housing building, police and fire officials said.

Emergency repsonders arrived at 2365 First Ave. around 5:30 p.m. after receiving a call that a girl had fallen from the 16-story building, officials said. The girl is suspected to have jumped from the building's roof, an NYPD spokesman said.

The girl was transported to Harlem Hospital in traumatic arrest, an FDNY spokesman said. She was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.

The building is part of the New York City Housing Authority's Robert F. Wagner Houses development.
