2 Arrested After Deadly East Harlem Shooting: Police

Two men are accused of murder in the shooting of a man found dead in an East Harlem stairwell earlier this month.

EAST HARLEM, NY — Two men have been arrested in connection with an East Harlem shooting earlier this month that left a 26-year-old man dead, police said Monday.

Around 11:37 p.m. on May 8, police responded to the NYCHA Lexington Houses complex on East 99th Street near Park Avenue, after receiving a 911 call about a man bleeding.

Officers found the victim lying face-down in a stairwell, unconscious and unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the torso. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police identified the victim this week as Michael Monclus, a Washington Heights resident.

Authorities also announced the arrests of two Bronx men accused of committing the murder: Tom Ruiz, 25, and Jonathan Tolentino, 20.
