Arrest Made In Death Of Elderly Harlem Street Vendor
Police arrested a man Thursday following the death of a 72-year-old Harlem street vendor, who died after reportedly confronting a thief.

HARLEM, NY — A suspect was arrested Thursday in connection with the death of a Harlem street vendor two days earlier, police said.
On Tuesday, 72-year-old William Welcome confronted someone who had tried to grab an object from his table near the corner of Frederick Douglass Boulevard and 126th Street, according to police.
Welcome was pushed to the ground during the confrontation, and collapsed again shortly afterwards, according to the New York Post.

Police identified the suspect as Quanell Jackson, 40, a Queens resident, who has been charged with robbery.
Witnesses called 911 around 4:08 p.m. Tuesday, and paramedics found Welcome lying unresponsive on the sidewalk. He was taken to Harlem Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Medical Examiner will determine Welcome's cause of death, police said.
