Burglar Pretending To Be Cleaning Lady Flees With Cash, Cops Say

Police are looking for the woman who walks into people's Harlem homes and tries to tell them she's their cleaning lady.

HARLEM, NY — A con woman is robbing Harlem homes then pretending to be a housekeeper when she’s caught, police said.

The brazen burglar first broke into an apartment on Central Park West and West 97th Street at about 1:40 p.m. on April 4, police said.

When a 75-year-old man caught her creeping through his home, she claimed to be a cleaning lady then fled with his cash, police said.

The pseudo-cleaning lady struck again on the same corner, almost two months later on June 10 at about 4:20 p.m., said police.

A 32-year-old woman caught her in the apartment and, once again, the woman claimed to be cleaning and dashed away, this time without any stolen goods, according to police.

Police describe the suspect as a woman with long dark hair in her early 30s, standing about 5-foot 4-inches, weighing about 125 pounds and sporting a white shirt, dark pants, and dark eyeglasses.
